Hi my name is Kirk Williams and my family and I live in Ponoka a little town in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is located about 37 miles north of Red Deer, Alberta in the parkland region of the rolling hills.
In Ponoka work is tough to find so like most people I had a day job in Red Deer working for a small company. You may have heard Alberta was booming. Well yes thats true until oil prices crashed!
Then everything changed, I had my regular J.O.B. (just over broke),and I was busy working hard but not making enough money to survive. When boom times ended in the oil patch , my employer gave me a choice , he would reduce my pay by 20% per month or they would lay me off. I took the pay cut for the time being.
But we couldn't make ends meet, and there were times we used credit cards to buy groceries.
We always seemed to have more month then money left over at the end of each month.
